iPhone



The iPhone is a multimedia and Internet-enabled quad-band GSM EDGE-supported mobile phone designed and sold by Apple Inc. The iPhone's functions include those of a camera phone and a multimedia player, in addition to text messaging and visual voicemail. It also offers Internet services including e-mail, web browsing, and local Wi-Fi connectivity. User input is accomplished via a multi-touch screen with virtual keyboard and buttons.

The iPhone has been available since June 29, 2007 in the United States from Apple Retail Stores, the Apple Online Store, and from AT&T Mobility, formerly Cingular Wireless, for a contracted price of US$499 for the 4 GB model and US$599 for the 8 GB model.

An analysis of the iPhone's firmware has revealed that the main Samsung chip (designated S5L8900) contains an ARM1176jzf processor, together with a PowerVR MBX 3D graphics co-processor.

Mobile News : O2 to launch UK iPhone in November

Tuesday 18 September 2007 O2 has today been confirmed as the exclusive network partner for the Apple iPhone and will begin selling the handset on November 9. O2 will partner with Carphone Warehouse to sell the iPhone and customers will have to pay £269 for the 8GB model and take out an 18-month contract with tariffs starting from £35 per month. No financial details were disclosed at today’s press conference but it is rumoured that O2 has agreed to give Apple 40 per cent of any revenue that it makes from customers' use of the iPhone. Apple CEO Steve Jobs said: “We're thrilled to be partnering with O2 to offer our revolutionary iPhone to UK customers. “US iPhone customer satisfaction is off the charts, and we can't wait to let UK customers get their hands on it and learn what they think of it." LG VX9400

Verizon Wireless has launched its second MediaFLO mobile TV handset, the LG VX9400. Mobile TV has been a major talking point at the CTIA conference and LG has been showing off the VX9400 proudly. Sporting a unique form factor (the screen swivels into landscape orientation) and MediaFLO, the device is designed to work with V-Cast TV.
